Why create Department First

When someone joins your organization using the organization code, they must be assigned to at least one department (Teams). Having departments or Teams ready streamlines the onboarding process.
Projects can only be created in a Department/Teams, if no Departments have been created you cannot make projects

Capabilities

You can setup, Main or Root Departments in your Organization. For example:
  • Engineering
  • Product
  • Design
  • Marketing
  • Operations
  • Sales
You can also create Sub-Departments/Teams within Main Departments/Teams for more granular tracking, For example:
  • Engineering
    • Frontend (React, Vue, Angular teams)
    • Backend (API, Database, Infrastructure)
    • DevOps (CI/CD, Cloud, Security)
    • Mobile (iOS, Android)
  • Product
    • Product Management
    • Product Analytics
    • User Research
    • Product Design
  • etc

Creating First Department

Open Magnifi Dashboard

Navigate to Manage Departments Section

Select Manage Departments from the sidebar under Administration GroupYou will see:

Create New Main Department

Click on Add Department Button located on the Top Right of the Window

Give a Name to your Department

Enter the name of the Department and click on either Tick Mark or press Enter
Congrats 🥳You created your First Department

Creating Sub departments

Click `+` icon on main Department

Click on + icon next to the name of your Department

Enter Sub-Department Name

Enter desired name of the Sub Department

Save the name

Press Tick icon, or press Enter or return (on apple devices)
